Vocal Instruction at BMS

U R a Star! (Ages 7-12 years) NEW!
This singing class focuses on Contemporary vocal styles, including pop, rock, country, and just about every style of singing except Classical. Students will learn basic breathing exercises, vocal anatomy, breath support, control, diction and vocal dynamics, all in a fun, vibrant setting. Repertoire is broad-based, incorporating standards and current hits.  


Instructor: Voice Faculty
Session I: July 8-11 (Mon/Tues/Wed/Thurs, one-week) 
Session II:
 July 22-25 (Mon/Tues/Wed/Thurs, one-week)
(Ages 7-9) Time: 6:00pm/50-minutes   
(Ages 10-12) Time: 7:00pm/50-minutes

Brookline Summer Singers (Ages 12-17 years) NEW!
This two-week program is designed to develop performance skills for teen singers by integrating singing with ear training, movement, ensemble experience, and acting. Participants will learn three songs from the musical theatre repertoire, one art song, and experiment with acting and moving. A short meeting with the program coordinator before registration is required to ensure proper placement. 

Program includes:
Acting for Singers; Eurhythmics (movement) for Singers; Musicianship; Master Classes; Ensemble Singing; Two 30-minute private lessons for each participant; Public concert on the final day of the program

Songwriting for Singers Intensive  (Ages 13 years and older) NEW!
Do you have creative ideas or experience in singing, but want to learn more about guitar, piano, or songwriting - or do you play an instrument but need guidance in songwriting? This class will help you develop the numerous skills needed to be a more accomplished singer/songwriter, including singing, guitar, piano, composition, form, harmony, chord progressions, melodic techniques, and technology instruction. The class will end in a coffee house/open mic cabaret for all to perform their songs.
