Rabbi Or Rose will lead us in an exploration of Abraham Joshua Heschel’s classicThe Sabbath, asking how this poetic work might help us deepen our relationship to Shabbat and to the dimension of time.  Rabbi Rose is Director of the Center for Global Judaism at Hebrew College.  He is the co-editor of “Jewish Mysticism and the Spiritual Life:  Classical Text, Contemporary Reflections," and “My Neighbor’s Faith:  Stories of Inter-religious Encounter, Growth and Transformation."

About our Friday Night Lights program:

Come on Friday night to hear from an inspiring speaker who will enrich our Shabbat experience.  Joining our own clergy and complementing our uplifting, musical worship, a diverse group of teachers will share their perspectives with our community. Rooted in Hasidism, in Talmud and in feminist thought, among others, these scholars offer refreshing insights into Torah.

In an effort to enrich our celebration of Shabbat, Ohabei Shalom has developed a unique program in collaboration with the Hebrew College Rabbinical School.  Each month a guest scholar from Hebrew College will join us on Friday night and share a teaching during the service.  After services, we will enjoy a savory oneg and further discussion with our guest teacher. The following Shabbat morning join us for Torah study where we will explore the teaching in greater depth.

Please note that childcare and alternatives for young children will be provided on Friday night.
