Abi Maxwell and Indira Ganesan

In Abi Maxwell’s haunting debut novel, Alice Thornton searches for the truth about the troubled women in her biological family while negotiating her role as part of and yearning for acceptance within her adopted family. Alice finds herself in impossible romantic entanglements, and inexplicably, she finds herself drawn toward the town’s lake.

In Sweet As Honey, heroine Meterling finds herself struggling to reconcile Eastern and Western ideas of love and family, as she finds love with an Englishman on her home island in the Indian Ocean. Emerson College writing instructor Ganesan (The Journey and Inheritance) deftly tells the story through Meterling’s young, curious niece Mira who is trying to suss out the goings-on of her beloved aunt.
