An Evening with Dennis Lehane, Sponsored by the Brookline Public Library

Dennis Lehane,
award-winning author of Mystic River, Gone, Baby Gone, and Shutter
Island
and Hollywood creative consultant for HBO’s hit series Boardwalk Empire, is returning to
Brookline for a special evening this fall.

On Monday October 7
he will speak at the Brookline High School Auditorium in a program sponsored by
the Trustees of the Public Library of Brookline.

Mr. Lehane will
relate stories of his struggles and triumphs as a young writer who spent years
waiting tables, parking cars, and loading freight in his native Dorchester
before his book A Drink Before the War won
the coveted Shamus Award for best first detective novel.  He will share insights into the craft of

screenwriting and suggest what it takes to successfully “translate the literary

into the visual.”
