SOUND OFF: Where Are the Worst Mobile Phone Service Dead Spots?

Tell us where the places are where cellphone service invariably drops.

We all know where they are: the parts of town where you always seem to lose a cellphone connection.

Dead spots.

The places to avoid if you need to be on a mobile phone.

For example, in my experience, every time I drive through parts of Chestnut Hill, if I'm on a call, I lose it.

So where are the worst places you know for cellphone service? Where do calls drop almost every time?

For me: AT&T service in Chestnut Hill. LaGrange Street near W. Rox and Brookline lines is particularly awful.

I live in the Perkins School area of Watertown and can't use my cell phone at home.

Near Winchester Country Club. I think they jam cell phone service so can't nobody talk on their cell phones while on their course. Never fails, whenever i drive by there, my call gets dropped.

AT&T coverage is horrible in Watertown. Here's a map showing where their towers are. http://www.cellreception.com/towers/towers.php?city=watertown&state_abr=ma&filter_att=1

Verizon service almost always drops on the Green Line for a stretch between Chestnut Hill and Newton Center stations.

Mass Pike between 128 and Route 30 -- anytime I am on a call and driving thru that stretch, the call drops. (AT&T)

Judith Otto- Try contributing something constructive towards the topic of the article instead of trolling the site with your righteous attitude. Do you even own a cell phone or get out much? You sound like fun.
Judith Otto September 15, 2012 at 03:25 PM
No, I'm not much fun, Chris, when drivers on cell phones consistently threaten my granddaughter's life. So here's the constructive comment you requested: Don't use a cell phone while driving. Your attention to your own safety and the safety of others is compromised when you do. And yes, I use a cell phone, and pull off the road to do so. And I get out often enough to be scared by drivers talking on their cells, and it seems like that's almost everyone these days.
Earnhardt September 15, 2012 at 03:30 PM
@ Judith Otto. please make sure you pull far enough off the road to avoid being hit or causing an obstruction in the road. After all It's your granddaughter we are talking about. And not only your life, but the lives of others, So don't YOU be a road hazard either, And By the way..Stop with the righteousness. People can get scared by someone pulled over to use a cell phone also, especially at night.
Chris Clapp September 15, 2012 at 03:41 PM
Judith, when you do pull off the road to safely conduct a phone call- are there any areas that you notice cell dead spots?
Earnhardt September 15, 2012 at 03:51 PM
@ Chris Clapp: LOLOLOLOLOL

Wow ... I got absolutely nothing out of the answers to this question except that we need a bigger soapbox?!??!
Earnhardt September 15, 2012 at 04:41 PM
So then Faydeen, where do you notice a dead spot?
Faydeen Sateriale September 15, 2012 at 04:49 PM
I was pulled over into a parking lot of off 62 in Wilmington just after getting off of 38 and just couldn't get any bars ... then, I pulled into another parking lot about 750 feet away and got a signal.
Faydeen Sateriale September 15, 2012 at 05:52 PM
I don't want a soapbox ... but the dialog here seemed to need one. I clicked to read where the dead spots were ... not get a lecture. That's all. I never judge or preach to anyone.
Earnhardt September 15, 2012 at 07:41 PM
lOLOL Great one Sonny! I guess if you cant win the argument with brains, go for the insults.. Good Job!
Earnhardt September 15, 2012 at 07:50 PM
LOLOL Ohh Sonny! you have to take this act on the road! all you need is the bah bah bum! drum after every one liner.

Jeez it took you almost a half hour to come back.. you are losing your edge... I left the @ off on purpose... again my point has been proven. Now I can truly enjoy my evening. you get the last.. I won't respond... Thanks for proving me out! :)
Grahame Turner September 16, 2012 at 01:04 AM
Judith Otto, please don't "spam" your responses. Saying the same thing over and over again--even if you feel strongly about it--can be annoying on the web, where we can already see it the first time you posted it. I think that is more what Chris Clapp and others are responding to. Feel free to disagree, just try to mix it up. Thanks!
