SOUND OFF: Should Video Linked to Libya Ambassdor Attack be Removed?

A video mocking the Islam founding prophet may have sparked an attack in Libya.

The killings in Libya Tuesday of U.S. Ambassador J. Christopher Stevens and three other Americans at the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi is said to have been sparked by anger over a video mocking the founding prophet of Islam, according to the New York Times.

A mob attacked the consulate Tuesday, and Stevens and three American staffers were killed in the attack. Sean Smith, an information management officer, and Stevens are the only two killed who have been named, pending relative notification, according to the State Department.

The Huffington Post reported this morning that the maker of the video, Sam Bacile, 56, of California, has gone into hiding. But Bacile maintained that "Islam is a cancer" and the intent of his film was a political statement condemning the religion.

What do you think about the video trailer? Should it remain on YouTube? Weigh in below.

Apparently this film cost $5 million to make. Having watched the trailer, my main question is: where exactly did that money go? Looks like they had a production budget of about 850 bucks. Seriously, this thing looks like an outtake from 'Tim and Eric Awesome Show.' THIS is causing people to be so upset that they're killing people? Wow, you need to put on your big boy pants and grow a set. I hate to single out ONE religion, because I happen to think ALL religions are equally infantile and ridiculous, but Islam takes the cake for the insanity factor. Ever here of a Mormon killing someone for "insulting" Joseph Smith? How 'bout a Scientologist blowing themselves up 'cos someone talked smack about L. Ron Hubbard? Or a Christian fundamentalist flying a plane into a building? I think not. Religion is a cancer on the face of the planet and Islam is the metastasizing tumor.

sorry, *hear*... excuse the spelling error, don't want anyone thinking I'm some xenophobic Teabilly idiot.

I think it should remain on YouTube. Hopefully the whole movie will be available soon, and posted. Will it incite more violence? Probably. But the truth of the matter is that Islamic extremists will always find something about western culture and to justify their barbarism, with or without this movie trailer. What we should be asking is where where the Marines or other protection force at our embassy? When are we going to stop playing nice and allow our forces to open fire on armed or threatening protesters and mobs outside our embassies?

When Obama gets voted out Ed, that's when! I agree with you whole heartedly!

Chris, I also agree with you. Coming from a family of military vets. I am appalled that the Commander in Chief of our Military forces did not take a stronger stand. Of course we should have retaliated the minute they came over the wall, not sympathized with the attackers (I have heard that this was leaked by a member of White House staff). If this is true, the staffer should be fired and the President, needs to grow, beg, borrow, or down right steal (maybe the sell them at Macy's) a backbone. All this backtracking makes the President and his administration look incompetent. The Islam religion need to come into the twenty-first century and face the fact that the Crusades are over. The President need to start acting like a man with clout and stop the pussyfooting around with the nice-nice. How many more days till the election?

Ron Paul "think-alike's" must be thrilled about yesterday's acts against OUR WIMPY GOV'T. The last time we lost a person ON OUR FOREIGN SOIL which is what an embassy is, was when the other wimp-(CARTER) was in the White House. When we were first attacked in Cairo on the anniversary of 9/11 the response from our government was: "The Embassy of the United States in Cairo condemns the continuing efforts by misguided individuals to hurt the religious feelings of Muslims . . ." That's right. WE APOLOGIZED TO THEM! Shortly after we failed to respond forcefully to the Cairo attack, the American embassy in Libya was bombarded by rockets and gunfire – resulting in the deaths of four American citizens including our Ambassador. . . . All because a group of religious extremists were offended by a YouTube video.

It was not the video. These killings were a planned activity and it was a military grade exercise. For the past few months, the Vice President has been promoting the bumper sticker “Osama bin Laden is Dead and GM is Alive” with the stimulating coming to a conclusion at the end of the Democratic National Convention. It is the Democratic Party that has been encouraging the murderers to kill the US Ambassador and other citizens living with these Muslim murders. It is time for the Muslim community to stand up for justice and criticize these killings.
