Police: Man Charged with Breaking and Entering on Powell Street

The following information was supplied by the Brookline Police Department. Charges listed do not indicate convictions. 

Brookline Police responded to a report of a breaking and entering in progress at about 4:15 a.m. on June 30 on Powell Street. The caller told police that they were on the third floor and could hear furniture moving around on the second floor.

When officers arrived, they could see a man in a blue/grey sweat jacket run through the kitchen towards the rear of the house. An officer on the front lawn saw the suspect come out the front door. The officer drew her service weapon and told the suspect to put his hands up. At this point, the suspect ran back inside the house.

The caller then reported that they were in the third story bathroom and the suspect was trying to escape through a bedroom window. Officers on the outside of the home established a perimeter and an officer located the caller.

While searching the rooms, an officer located the suspect hiding behind a chair. The room was dark and the officer reported that they could only see their feet and legs. The officer drew their weapon, turned on their flashlight and told the suspect to show them his hands. The suspect didn’t move. Officers ran in and grabbed the suspect and placed him in handcuffs. Officers searched the house and found that no one else was inside.

Officers searched the suspect and found silver cufflinks, a silver bracelet, $42.46 and a cell phone. The cufflinks were estimated to be worth between $150 and $200. The bracelet was valued at $10.

Officers arrested Abdirahman Noor, 26, of 341 St. Paul Street and charged him with unarmed breaking and entering.
