Why: In memory of a Brookline High Graduate and New York Firefighter, Manny Del Valle, and the victims of the terror attack. The ceremony will last just under an hour, coinciding with the 9:59 a.m. fall of the first tower.
When/where: 6 p.m. at Cathedral of St. Paul (138 Tremont Street in Boston)
Why: The terror attacks affected so many, even some of differing faiths. At 6 p.m., St. Paul's Cathedral opens their doors to a service and evening of prayer to which all are welcome to seek support and comfort in an interfaith setting.
When/where: 11 a.m., at 10 State Street in Boston
Why: Take part in a care package drive to support active troops overseas, as well as bereaved families of troops. Come to the Rose Kennedy Greenway and help assemble their goal of a thousand care packages.
Pricing: Care package donation is $35
When/where: Fenway Park from 7 a.m. until 3 p.m.
Why: The Red Sox are hosting a blood drive, encouraging those who can give blood to come and do so. Call 1-800-RED-CROSS (1-800-733-2767) to schedule an appointment.
When/where:Starts at noon at 9 Junction Street in Dover, ends at the Hatch Shell in Boston.
Why: Timed to meet up with the Beyond the 11th ride from Ground Zero, this ride will end at the Hatch Shell for a celebration of camaraderie and commemoration to those who were lost, or fought and died, or the families left behind.
Pricing: $25 registration fee.
