Five Things You Need to Know Today: September 6

Big day in Brookline: State primaries and the first day of school for some.

1. Fewer clouds expected, and a little more sun than yesterday. The National Weather Service predicts that today will be partly cloudy, with about a 20 percent chance of showers in the evening. High of 79ºF, low of 66ºF. 

2. Today is the first day of school--for some. Grades 1 through 9 are starting today, meaning 10, 11 and 12 graders get the day off, and kingergarten has a half-day.
