Brookline Man Charged with Attempted Breaking and Entering

The following information was supplied by the Brookline Police Department. Charges listed do not imply conviction.

Officers responded to a report of a theft at 10:02 p.m. on December 10 on Linden Street.

While canvassing the area, officers received a separate report of a man trying to enter residential doors in the neighborhood. The description of the suspect was a male with grey hair wearing glasses, shorts, a beige shirt, and carrying a pipe. The caller reported that they could hear someone moving boxes and went to check on what was going on.

The man said he was trying to find 22 Linden Street, and when the caller told him he was in the wrong place, the caller observed the man trying other doors on the street as he walked along.

Officers located a man matching that description, walking down Brooks Street towards Hurd Road. Eyewitnesses identified the man and confirmed that he was the one who was attempting to enter neighborhood houses.

Based on the facts and circumstances at hand, David Small, 55, of 22 Linden Place, Brookline and charged him with attempted breaking and entering at night.
