Meet DanceFIT Studio Instructor, Maeve!

DanceFIT Studio Instructor Spotlight: Maeve Byrne! This week our instructor spotlight is on the fabulous Maeve!  Maeve is both an in-studio and virtual instructor for DanceFIT Studio.  She teaches BlastFIT, Sweat Pilates and her specialty, Zumba!
Maeve will be hosting a very special event at DanceFIT Studio on October 16th: Zumba Party in PINK to benefit Breast Cancer Awareness.  Read all about Maeve and this wonderful benefit below!

1.  Tell our readers a little about yourself!

Without this sounding like an ad here goes!  I’m a NY girl- born and raised living in Boston for about 7 years now!  I love shoes, coffee and wine and have some of the best family and friends a girl can ask for.  I work full time as an HR/Recruiting Associate and teach fitness classes on the side.

2.  Why are you so passionate about dance?

Dancing is such a strong and amazing thing.  You can get lost in the music, in the movements and just be happy. It’s a great escape from what’s happening in your life to just dance it all out!  I love when a certain song comes on in my class and seeing how people react to it-to see faces light up- or that second wind overcome them- it’s amazing to watch and be part of.

3.  As a DanceFIT Studio Virtual and Studio Instructor, what do you love most about teaching?  And What differentiates virtual vs in-studio classes in your opinion?

DanceFIT is such a special place.  What makes it so are the clients that come in our doors- they have helped make it more like family than a fitness studio.
What I love most about teaching is seeing the difference we are making in the clients lives.  Not only are we helping them transform their bodies, but we are helping them create new lifestyles!  To know I could help make their day simply by encouraging them through a plank, a push up or a salsa is an honor that I hold very highly in my life.

4.  Your classes are so upbeat!  What’s on your playlist right now to keep yourself and your students moving?

I’m ALWAYS looking for fun new music to play and get everyone moving and motivated in class.  Right now, shamefully I’m on a bit of a Miley Cyrus kick (don’t judge too hard).

Or I’m looking for some upbeat Latin music to create new Zumba routines.

5.  What is your favorite piece of fitness inspiration or advice you would love to share?

I saw this quote once and love it “ No matter how slow you go, you are still lapping everybody on the couch” It’ just proves that no matter your size, shape, age or ability – you are still working hard and getting to the finish line.

6.  What is your FIT Style?  What do you love to workout in?

I don’t think it’s much of a secret that I love all things Lululemon.  It’s pretty bad how my closet is mostly filled with yoga pants and tank tops!

7.  What do you love to do when you’re not on the dance floor?

Spend time with my family and friends, going to yoga or training with the November Project or trying out a new restaurant! Boston has a lot to offer and I love trying to do it all!

8.  You are the Zumba master!  Tell us a little about why you love teaching Zumba...how did you learn to move so fast?

I LOVE Zumba for so many reasons, but I think it’s mostly because ANYONE can do it.  You don’t need to be a good dancer, the most athletic or most in shape- all you need to do is have fun, let loose and shake it!

9. The 3rd Annual A Party in Pink™ Zumbathon® coming up at DanceFIT Studio on Wednesday October 16th.  Can you tell our readers why this is such a great, fun event?

This event holds a special place in my heart.  My mother is a breast cancer survivor and I can’t think of a better way to help raise money for research and prevention, than to dance!  It’s a great night.  The studio is filled with love, hope and encouragement as we all dance away the night in PINK!!!  It’s great to see everyone come out, donate their time and money for this cause.  It’s the highlight of my year.
