DanceFIT Studio Virtual Instructor Spotlight! Laura!

DanceFIT Studio Instructor Spotlight: Laura Les Siem! This week our Instructor Spotlight is on Laura Les Siem!  Laura is one of our amazing VirtualFITinstructors all the way from Colorado! She is an accomplished dancer and brings a lot of technique and upbeat classes to our Virtual Program!

Laura believes that finding a workout you love will ensure you stick with a healthy lifestyle.  You don't have to love running to be fit!

1.  Tell our readers a little about yourself!

I have a very loving family and grew up all over the US. I started dancing when I was 12 yeats old. I graduated from Colorado State University in 2010 with a Bachelors of Performing Arts, concentrating in Dance. Right after graduation I moved to San Diego, California and lived there for three years teaching dance and choreographing all over the area. I recently moved to Denver, Colorado where I am focusing on further training for myself as a dancer.

2.  Why are you so passionate about dance?

I actually got into dance simply because my two best friends started taking classes and I didn't want to be left out Haha. I found myself clicking into the classes and creativity very easily. As I grew and learned more, dance became a part of me. I did not realize this until I went to college with intentions of becoming a veterinarian, and changed my major to dance in the first week. I couldn't imagine my life without it.

3.  As a DanceFIT Studio Virtual Instructor, what do you love most about teaching?  What is your favorite class to teach?

I love that we create connections with each other, even though I have never "met" anyone. I notice when people are missing and I am thinking about everyone when they are injured, or when 6FIT has just started and I know everyone is super sore! The Facebook conversations are great on keeping us connected as well. I love teaching all classes equally. I am definitely more confident in my barre classes, just because it is dance based movement. But I enjoy mixing it up. I think everyone by now knows that I love providing a good stretch :)

4.  Your classes are very Barre focused; what move do you teach that you think is the most  beneficial?

It is hard to choose just one, but I think that with releves, you feel them the quickest and get results fast. I also have to mention how good or is for our inner thighs to do turned out work to the front. For example, front attitude lifts (also gets the lower abs).

5.  What is your favorite piece of fitness inspiration or advice you would love to share?

Everyone had "their thing". For example, running is not my thing. I have never enjoyed it and never will, so if my exercise regiment included running, I would be miserable, and resent it. So I don't run. I take weight classes and barre classes. If you find "your thing" then you will begin to actually crave working out. Makes life a lot happier.

6.  What is your FIT Style?  What do you love to workout in?

Bike shorts or dance shorts and loose tank tops.

7.  What do you love to do when you’re not on the dance floor?

Weekend trips with friends, visit family (i have an amazing niece and nephew) watch broncos games, catch up with friends I do not live near anymore, take my dog to watch my boyfriend playing on his teams (softball and hurling) and I honestly do enjoy a good workout .. oh and cooking!

8.  Your classes are always upbeat, what is your favorite music to workout to these days?

To be honest, I lost my music library when my last computer died, so I am relying on CDs my students have made me for now. Hope to recover it soon and play some oldies!

Thank you for letting us feature you today, Laura!  Your beautiful pictures are absolutely inspiring!
