TV for Your Soul is proud to present the first installment of the new season of Contributions to Earth

Contributions to Earth is a television talk show produced by “Twinkle” Marie Manning that educates the public about non-profit organizations that do extraordinary things for their community. The television show started as a dream of “Twinkle’s” in 2004. The show was first filmed in 2007 with local PBS affiliate station in Daytona Beach, Florida. It began airing locally in Boston in 2011 and now airs throughout the United States on local and public community television stations. Carolena Presto has been the host of this television series since 2010. She brings with her a wealth of knowledge and compassion about issues that many people on our planet are faced with. Through personal interviews with key representatives and those who support them, Contributions to Earth raises awareness of many wonderful non-profits so that viewers can take advantage of the services they offer.

Host Carolena Presto has these words to say about Contributions to Earth:

“Hosting a show like Contributions to Earth is a true blessing and privilege! To deliver “Good” news and information to communities unlike no other. We have the opportunity to interview incredible non-profits, humanitarians and individuals who unselfishly display acts of kindness to others and the earth. Any of our topics can change ones life for better.  We have discussed many topics such as groups that help abused individuals, animal welfare, recycling, organic gardening just to name of few. I am so thrilled to have the opportunity to film these incredible organizations and people who work for them; to get the word out for those in need. As I have always believed, ‘No matter how small a gesture, an act of kindness can lift someone's spirits and may even change their entire life forever. Every day is an opportunity to care for the earth and those who live on it.’”

In this month’s episode, Contributions to Earth will be featuring Casa Myrna Vasquez; Greater Boston’s leading non-profit delivering solutions to end domestic and dating violence. Host Carolena Presto engages CEO Stephanie Brown and Deborah Collins-Gousby as they discuss the history and benefits of their program as well as ways to seek help if abuse continues to escalate.

Stephanie discusses her history with Casa Myrna, which involves her volunteering for the organization 15 years ago. Deborah, a 23 year Casa Myrna worker, started a few years after graduating from college. Stephanie voices her faith in the organization by stating that, “there’s a definite need for Casa Myrna.” Casa Myrna is very engaged with their community in terms of educating teens and young adults about what constitutes a healthy relationship. Deborah Collins-Gousby mentions that Casa Myrna is not a destination, and that the road to success is not an easy one. Women utilize the tools made available to them by Casa Myrna to redesign their lives. Both woman reach out to the community and ask for help, stating “we love it when people get involved because we can’t do it by ourselves.”

Casa Myrna has developed over the past three decades to become a fully faceted program that not only shelters victims, but also gives them the confidence to branch out on their own as empowered and strong women. They create a safe living environment for women and children, which helps them to feel safe and nurtured. Casa Myrna Vasquez is a wonderful organization that deserves all the support and acknowledgement it has received over the years.
