Brookline Chamber Names Celinda Shannon as Executive Director

The Brookline Chamber of Commerce announced the appointment of Celinda Shannon as Executive Director effective September 1st.  Shannon previously served as the Director of Strategic Relationships and Programs for the past 2 years.

“We are thrilled to announce that Celinda has been promoted to fill the role as Executive Director of the Chamber”, says Fran Berger, President of the Chamber. “She has been working with the Chamber on a part-time basis for the past two years in the capacity of marketing and office management and got a taste of the Executive Director role when she filled in for the former director during a three month leave of absence this past winter,” Berger adds.

“I’m excited to take on the full-time role as Executive Director,” says Ms. Shannon.   “Brookline is such a unique and vibrant community with so many different types of entities making up our community.  I am enjoying the process of getting to know people in the community and understanding how the Chamber can play a larger role in being a keystone of information for Brookline’s businesses, non-profits and residents.”

Shannon’s background includes event planning at three Olympic Games, and a number of years working in marketing with smaller entrepreneurial companies as well as with her own marketing and consulting company.  “With her background and the past two years of working with the Chamber, we are confident Celinda will do a great job in representing the Chamber and with helping to grow membership and awareness of the Chamber throughout the community,” stated Ms. Berger.

There will be an opportunity to meet the new Executive Director on Thursday, October 10th at the VineRipe Grill, 1281 W. Roxbury Parkway in Chestnut Hill. This After Hours networking event will be held from 6:00pm – 8:00pm.   “I look forward to the opportunity to connect with and meet more people in the community.  This kind of event provides a fun, casual way to do so,” said Ms. Shannon.

The event will be baseball-themed with reduced admission for those sporting an item from their favorite team.  Attendees are requested to RSVP.  More information about this event and the Chamber’s educational and networking events can be found on their website or by calling (617) 739-1330.
