Newton's Urban Grape to Open South End Location

The new store will be at 303 Columbus Ave. in Boston.

Just two years after opening its doors in Chestnut Hill, is ready to expand into another urban environment: Boston's South End. 

According to a story today in Boston Magazine, Urban Grape plans to open a second location at 303 Columbus Ave. sometime in early fall 2012. 

Owner TJ Douglas told Boston Magazine that the South End is "a perfect home" for the wine shop. He and his wife/co-owner, Hadley, currently live in the South End.

Located in the Chestnut Hill Shopping Center, Urban Grape has a unique system in that . The shop also offers a variety of craft beer and liquor and puts on a number of tasting events.

The Boston Globe reported yesterday that Boston's Licensing Board granted the retail liquor license to Urban Grape at its meeting Wednesday. At that time, Douglas told the board Urban Grape planned to open the 2,100-square-foot shop sometime after Labor Day.
