Severe Thunderstorm Watch Issued for Brookline

Damaging wind, large hail possible with storms that hit the area today.

Residents planning any outdoor activity today should keep an eye to the sky for some rough weather.

The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for Brookline.

NWS radar indicated a line of strong thunderstorms extending from Vermont to Massachusetts, moving at 35 mph.

Towns between Worcester and Boston will be affected by about 3 p.m. 

These storms have the potential to become severe and produce damaging wind and large hail, the NWS said. Residents can also expect frequent lightning and heavy rain.

Minor street flooding and ponding of water in low-lying areas are also possible.

The severe thunderstorm watch is in effect until 8 p.m.
