Coats, Baby Clothes Needed For Staten Island Victims

A Framingham man is leaving very early Saturday morning for New York to help his brother with the cleanup of his flooded home; and wants to bring warm clothing to those in need.

Adam Zahler of Framingham is traveling to Staten Island Saturday.

He plans to help his brother "with the cleanup of his flooded home."

Zahler said his brother tells him "people there need warm clothing, particularly coats and baby clothes. The weather is getting cold and there are many without power."

If you have coats, warm clothing and or baby clothes please drop off on Zahler's porch tonight or very early Saturday morning.

"My vehicle is not large, but I will take what I can," said Zahler. "My brother and his wife are okay and have a place to stay, though most of their belongings, other than what is in the bedrooms, is ruined. He knows people who are hurting, I think, and we'll try to get some clothing to them and to a shelter."

Zahler lives at 59 Gilbert St. Please leave the items on the porch.

He realizes this is a last minute request, but Zahler just learned at noon Friday he could travel to New York.

Susan, Will you keep us updated if any other trips will be being made? I would love to donate and have quite a bit I could (stashed away in my attic) but it's not going to happen by tomorrow morning. Here's hoping another family or organization will reach out that plans on making a trip down.

Cariann - I did ask him about future trips and he said he will let us know. Julie: I'm not sure what early means to him -- but IMO thinking before 9 a.m.?? And as I told him I knew that there were many families in Framingham, who would love to help, the only issue might be timing ...

Thanks for this post. It made me search for where we can send clean clothes and a blanket to Staten Island. I sent an online donation and we're sending a package today to the list you can find here for drop off of essential things they need now. http://statenislandusa.com/. Good luck to Mr. Zahler and his brother. Lisa and Matt

Does anyone have an address so we can send coats, pants, blankets and etc? I hear where to send money but people need clothes and anything that will keep them warm. Can someone advice me where to send things? I would rather send myself so I know it will get there.
