Community Corner

Work with local students at Olmsted NHS!

  • Frederick Law Olmsted National Historic Site is looking for volunteer park educators to help facilitate its award-winning program, "Good Neighbors: Landscape Design & Community Building." The program is offered from April to June to all third graders in Brookline public schools, as well as students in several Boston public schools.
  • Olmsted NHS seeks motivated, team-focused, youth-oriented volunteers with strong communication skills and enthusiasm for parks and landscapes. Interested applicants should contact Brianne Cassetta at 617-566-1689, ext. 238, or email Brianne_Cassetta@nps.gov. More information is available at www.nps.gov/frla/forteachers/goodneighbors.
  • Volunteers receive in-depth training, work in collaboration with National Park Service rangers, and play significant roles in this active, place-based program that fosters an appreciation of the physical, social and psychological value of public parks.
  • The program runs 10 to 20 hours per week, Monday through Thursday, during the "Good Neighbors" season.
