You know them as coaches, principals, police officers and executives. They are neighbors, co-workers and friends. They are also heroes - Blue Hills Bank’s 2014 Hometown Heroes, that is.
After receiving 32 nominations and nearly 2,500 online votes, Blue Hills Bank is proud to announce the 11 individuals and one organization that will be featured in their 2014 calendar as Blue Hills Bank Hometown Heroes. Along with this honor, each hero will receive $1,000 from Blue Hills Bank for their organization or favorite charity.
“We are lucky to be in a community where service and volunteerism isn’t a rarity, it’s the norm,” comments William M. Parent, President and CEO of Blue Hills Bank, “These people and organizations make this community a great place to live and work and we are proud to honor them.”
The recipients of Blue Hills Bank Hometown Hero Awards are: The Animal Rescue League of Boston (Dedham Branch), Peter Boucher (Principal of the Lt. Peter M. Hansen School in Canton), Dan Cummings (Founder of the not-for-profit Journey Forward in Canton), Frank Faria (Founder of the Memorial Soccer Tournament Kick it 4 Jake in Stoughton), Lisa Fasano (Principal of St. Mary of the Hills in Milton), James Lafond-Lewis (Hyde Park resident and sole volunteer of Fowl Meadow clean up and restoration), Ryan Mason (Boston Police Detective and Founder of Parkway in Motion in West Roxbury and Roslindale), Martha McDonough (Organizer of the Neponset River Clean Up in Hyde Park), Cheryl Murphy (Director of the Menino Arts Center in Hyde Park), Andrea Swain (Executive Director of the Roxbury Boys and Girls Club), Leora Viega-Rifkin (Leader at the Boston Children’s Museum) and Pauline Wells (Milton resident and Lieutenant with the Cambridge Police Department).
