The ability to connect with people through "small talk" is an acquired skill. Making small talk can be a big challenge, but a little preparation and confidence is all you need. The skill to strike up or join a conversation at social events, business meetings, or even in the check-out line is important and, if done well, can help you succeed in your professional and personal life. In this fun and interactive lecture we'll examine attitudes toward small talk, engage in instructive and enjoyable group exercises, and learn proven techniques for starting, joining, or gracefully exiting a conversation. The good news is that anyone can easily learn the art of small talk.
