Massachusetts will again suspend the sales tax on non-business purchases under $2,500 on August 13-14, 2011 - just in time for back-to-school shopping. 

The tax-free holiday applies to most items that are priced than $2,500 in the state of Massachusetts, however, there are several exemptions such as motorized vehicles, meals, gasoline, tobacco, utilities and layaway items.

This year, unlike previous years, the 2011 sales holiday will apply to the sales of alcohol.
