$30.00
Grand Harmonie with Andrew Altenbach, conductor; Andrea LeBlanc, flute; Kristin Olson, oboe; Yoni Kahn, horn; and Elizabeth Hardy, bassoon.
2:30 Lecture by Robert Levin
The centerpiece of our program is Robert Levin's reconstruction of Mozart's Symphonie Concertante for winds & orchestra. Through his research, Dr. Levin uncovered the work's fascinating history, full of itinerant soloists, artistic power struggles, and anonymous copyists. Dr. Levin himself will be delivering a pre-concert lecture at 2:30pm. Weber's overture to the opera Der Freischütz features perhaps the most famous horn quartet writing of the early 19th century, and listeners will have the pleasure of hearing it played on natural horns, as the composer originally intended. Schubert's “Unfinished” Symphony needs no introduction, with its haunting opening in the low strings and sublime slow movement.

More About United Parish in Brookline
The United Parish was formed in 1970 after three Coolidge Corner congregations - American Baptist, United Church of Christ and United Methodist - merged to create a new church, which moved into the former Harvard Church building, constructed in 1933.
The church offes children and youth religious education programs, a non-audition choir and a social group for parishioners in their 20s and 30s. The Reverend Patricia Coughlin serves as senior pastor.
