www.brooklinema.gov/firstlight.
Brookline welcomes the holiday season each year by hosting a town-wide winter festival. The 1st Light Festival features an evening of food, fun, shopping and entertainment for all ages at businesses throughout Town.
This year’s entertainment highlights include light installations by Sina Lightworks, a photography contest as well as displays and performances by local artists and musicians.
Sina Lightworks showcases the artistic talents of Brookline residents Alejandro and Moira Sina. The Sina’s pioneered the use of high frequency electronics, glass and luminous gases used to create ethereal kinetic work displaying light and color as their medium for artistic expression. Sina Lightworks has exhibited their works in the U.S. and internationally, with indoor and outdoor installations, large scale suspended clusters, kinetic and interactive lightworks. Sina Lightworks has received several awards and honors, public commissions and has been featured in seven books worldwide. Sina Lightworks will be displayed at The Fireplace Restaurant, Washington Square Tavern, Fire Opal, Muddy River Art Gallery, Clear Four Bakery, Chobee Hoy Associates and Town Hall.
The photography contest challenges participants to capture what they think is special about Brookline. Email high quality photo submissions to 1stlightbrookline@gmail.com by November 1, 2012. Submissions will be reviewed both by our panel of judges as well as the 1st Light Facebook page. The winning entry, along with a selection of top submissions will be put on display at various locations throughout Town during the festival. The grand prize is a custom made jigsaw puzzle of the winning photograph. See the festival website for more details and eligibility requirements.
The 1st Light Festival is organized by the Town’s Economic Development Division, volunteers and ismade possible through the generous support of our sponsors. Detailed maps with performance times and locations will be available at Brookline retailers and online.

More About Brookline Town Hall
Situated in the heart of Brookline Village, Brookline's six-story town hall is home to the majority of the town's offices and serves as a meeting place for its many boards, commissions and committees. The building was completely gutted and renovated in 2008.
Town Hall is home to the school, finance and public works departments, as well as the offices of the town clerk, town counsel, town administrator and Board of Selectmen. The police, fire and health departments are housed in adjacent buildings in Brookline Village.
Metered parking is available in a lot between Town Hall the Pierce School and on nearby streets, though spaces can be hard to find during evening meetings. Town Hall is a short walk from the Brookline Village Station on the T.
Public restrooms are located adjacent to the Treasurer's Office on the ground floor, or across from the elevators on all other floors.
