DESCRIPTION:Brookline Rotary Club is collecting used crutches\, canes\, c
 ollapsible wheelchairs\, and folding walkers for the Crutches 4 Africa p
 rogram\, a Rotary sponsoredproject through Rotary International. The ite
 ms will be sent to pre-determined areas of need in Africa\, where they w
 ill be given to people who have beenaffected by illness or accident. Rec
 ipients are given the opportunity for mobility again\, a basic human rig
 ht that raises their self-esteem. The project costs our donors nothing e
 xcept a little time to drop the items off and it spreads goodwill half w
 ay around the world! In the last six years\, Crutches 4 Africahas distri

 T THE ROTARY CLUB OF BROOKLINE: The Rotary Club of Brookline is dedicate
 d to fighting hunger in our community. But Brookline Rotary&rsquo\;s rea
 ch extends beyond combatting hunger locally to other community efforts a
 ndinternational projects. The club has gifted $295\,000 over the last te
 n years. Brookline Rotary dispenses $20\,000 to $30\,000 annually to man
 y causes. 68% of Rotary&rsquo\;s funding supports local projects besides
  Brookline food pantries\,among them the Brookline Education Foundation\
 , the Brookline Community Mental Health Center\, Brookline veterans and 
 the Women&rsquo\;s Lunch Place. The club also provides local support for
  literacy projects and the Senior Center. Internationally\, causes such 
 as relief in Haiti\, clean water for a Honduras village and worldwide po
 lio eradication are funded by Brookline Rotary.
