An Evening of Musical Pu Pu Platter
The Oasis Cafe Music Night at the ECC (Education & Community Center) at The Korean Church of Boston (PCUSA) presents "Musical Pu Pu Platter!" on Saturday, August 11, 2012 at 7 p.m. Miho Sato and five Japanese musicians will present an evening of classical, jazz and American standards. Ms Sato is a Brookline business woman, but is also a conservatory-trained opera singer, and her performance will include every opera lovers' favorite, "O Mio Babbino Caro", as well as songs by George Gershwin and Rogers and Hammerstein. The musicians describe the program as a "Musical Pu Pu Platter", covering a wide range of music from Bach to the American theater, Italian aria, and an original composition featuring the traditional Japanese instrument Koto.
The evening will start with "Sonata for Oboe" and "Harpsichord in C Minor" by Joan Baptista Pla, followed by "Largo" from "Double Concerto for Violin, Oboe and Harpsichord in C minor" by J. S. Bach, and "Romance No. 2 for Violin" by Beethoven. The later part of the evening will include songs by Richard Rodgers ("You'll Never Walk Alone" from Carousel), Aaron Copland ("I Bought Me a Cat" from Old American Songs), George Gershwin ("My Man's Gone Now" from Porgy and Bess) and Giacomo Puccini ("O Mio Babbino Caro"). The concert will conclude with original compositions by the Sumie Kaneko Studio.
The event is free for all music lovers in town and light refreshments will be provided.
