Following the Boston Marathon bombing last Monday in which pressure cookers were used for the explosion, the cookware giant has decided to temporarily stop selling the items in their Massachusetts stores.
Williams-Sonoma, the specialty retailer of home furnishings and gourmet cookware with over 250 stores in the United States, has pulled pressure cookers from their shelves following the Boston Marathon bombing. "It's a temporary thing out of respect," said Kent, who is the Store Manager of the Williams-Sonoma at the Natick Mall. He referred Patch to corporate for further questions. Pressure cookers will still be available on the Williams-Sonoma website. Crate & Barrel is still selling pressure cookers in their stores, according to Elizabeth who is the General Manager of the location at the Natick Mall. She noted that they hadn't sold any pressure cookers recently. Crate & Barrel will also be observing the statewide moment of silence today…

Employees from the local design company handed out free copies of the poster for people to hang in their homes, stores and elsewhere around the community.
Two women from Breakaway Innovation Group on Boylston Street were at the Boston Marathon victims' memorial at Boylston and Berkeley streets on Thursday afternoon handing out printed signs to show their support in the aftermath of Monday's bombing. The small posters show a Boston skyline with an overlay of a red Boston "B" and text reading "26.2gether." "We just thought it would be nice to print these out and give them to local places in support and solidarity for the whole community," said Breakaway employee Megan Brock of Somerville. ProPrint on Boylston Street donated 250 copies of the poster.

City officials are helping businesses, employees, vendors, at the temporary Business Assistance Center at the Park Plaza Hotel lobby.
Boston officials are continuing to reach out to hundreds of Back Bay businesses affected by the marathon tragedy, trying to get those stores, offices and streets, back up and running. On Tuesday, a temporary Business Assistance Center was set up at the Boston Park Plaza Hotel lobby for city officials to respond to any business, employee, or vendor inquiry. The temporary satellite office was to be open on Wednesday and Thursday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Businesses needing workspace can turn to Coworking Opens Doors - a list of Boston, and Boston-area offices offering to host displaced businesses. There is a bread-breaking ceremony in honor of the 22nd Whole Foods in Massachusetts on Thursday at 8 a.m..
The smallest Whole Foods in the United States will open its doors in Brookline on Thursday. The 16,000 square foot store will open with a bread-breaking ceremony at 8 a.m. at 1028 Beacon Street. The store will employ 75 team full and part time team members. “Our focus here will be ‘Bringing Local Flavor Home,’” Marketing Specialist JP Scioville said. “Our products will either be produced, packaged or made in New England.” Whole Foods sells local products wherever possible, though not all products can be locally sourced. Rich Products Corporation has issued a voluntary recall on some of its products because of a possible E. coli contamination.
Rich Products Corporation has initiated a recall of its Farm Rich Mini Quesadillas, Farm Rich Mini Pizza Slices, Farm Rich Philly Cheese Steaks, Farm Rich Mozzarella Bites, Farm Rich Mini Bacon Cheeseburgers and Market Day Mozzarella Bites because of a possible E. coli contamination, according to CBS News. The Buffalo-based company is working with the USDA, FDA and CDC to determine how products manufactured in their Waycross, GA plant may have become contaminated with E. coli bacteria. The products were manufactured between Nov. 12 and Nov. 19 and have "Best By" dates between Jan. 1, 2013 and Sept. 29, 2014, which can be located on the back of the package on all of the products, according to information on the Farm Rich website.
