Pinkberry, Bernard's and Cinema de Luxe coming to Chestnut Hill

Chestnut Hill Shopping Center announced the National Amusements Cinema will be a Cinema de Luxe, teased two other stores coming to the Shopping Center.

Pinkberry will soon be joining the line-up of stores in the revamped Chestnut Hill Shopping Center, joining Shake Shack, which announced it was coming to Chestnut Hill last week, Sports Club/LA and a National Amusements theatre. In an email sent Friday afternoon, WS Development Director of Corporate Marketing David Fleming told Patch that the frozen yogurt shop is coming in addition to Bernard's restaurant and a Cinema de Luxe. The new tenants will be located in a new, 115,000-square-foot building that will be built on the former Macy's site. Pinkberry, a high-end frozen yogurt shop from the West Coast, also has locations in Cambridge and Boston's Back Bay. Bernard's is currently located in the Mall at Chestnut Hill. Brookline's Best Grillables are at...

Based on the poll numbers, the finest foods to toss on the grill are here in Brookline, at the Meat House.

The answer seemed a little obvious from the start: when Brookline goes to look for its grillables, one name came up in comments on Facebook and Twitter. The Poll results matched that. According to our poll, the best spot for food to throw on the grill is none other than The Meat House!  The voting numbers were small this week, with 13 votes total, 10 of which went to the winner. Second place went to Wulf's Fish Market and third to The Butcherie. No new reviews, and no comments on the poll made Meat House a clear winner. The other poll winners thus far: The best day trip is the JFK National Historic Site; the best Mother's Day brunch at Zaftigs Delicatessen; Finesse Florist, the finest florist; TerraVino the top Wine shop in Coolidge Corner…

Brookline Giving Out Final Few Liquor Licenses?

Board of Selectmen holding some liquor license decisions while they clear up how many licenses remain in town's quota. Taberna de Haro and KooKoo's Cafe also teased expansion plans.

Three Brookline businesses may be claiming the final few liquor licenses in town, if officials have the correct number of licenses in mind.  At last night's Board of Selectmen's meeting, applications for liquor licenses by Taberna de Haro and KooKoo Cafe were put before public hearings. Neither was opposed by members of the community, but the Selectmen still had to conditionally approve one and hold the other.  The Town has a maximum quota of licenses which it can assign, and the number of licenses is dwindling to the final few--which may already be spoken for. Officials believe there are enough licenses for both businesses, plus MJ Ready International Bistro, which applied earlier in the year. At the April 17 meeting, the Selectmen held …

I have not heard anything recent about the Tapas place. The night we learned they were coming into town was the night they got the license off American Craft. As I recall, there was a bit of a snafu with the liquor license at American Craft, because they had officially handed the license over to Barcelona Inc--the new owners--before Craft had officially closed. So, technically, American Craft …   more ›

Food Network Featuring A Taste of Brookline Village at Cutty's?

Twitter reports Food Network star Guy Fieri is filming "Diners, Drive-ins and Dives" at Cutty's in Brookline Village today

Hopefully, Brookline Village's food scene is ready for its close up, because Twitter tells us that Guy Fieri's "Triple-D" is rolling into town. A few users on Twitter report that Food Network's Guy Fieri is filming a segment for "Diners, Drive-ins and Dives" Cutty's on Washington Street today. The rumor first came from BostonTweet by way of Twitter user @LillyJ. A sign on the door and a Facebook post confirmed that the restaurant is closed today, will be open on Wednesday, and closed again Thursday. Inside, passers-by could see lights and a crowded kitchen, but little of the celebrity or owner.  The Food Network star's show travels around the country as the host explores local flavors. In a typical segment, the chef will show Fieri how one…

Day Tripping in Brookline, Best Place Goes To...

The day trip poll winner this week is of presidential stature, and part of Brookline's rich history.

Despite low voter turnout, it was a presidential race in the hunt for Brookline's finest day trip, and we can announce a winner. With just a few votes more than its fellow candidates, netting 33 percent of the votes, the JFK National Historic Site wins this week's poll. No new reviews of these sites were posted in the last week, and no comments endorsing any particular competitor mean that poll numbers are the only consideration. Despite that, we still encourage you to head out to these places this summer and let us know what you think with a review. Tied for second place, the Olmsted Historical Site and Larz Anderson Auto Museum. Each took in 25 percent of the vote. And an honorable mention goes to both the Longyear Museum and Old Burying…
