I am a Reference and Emerging Technologies Librarian at The Public Library of Brookline.

Explore the National Geographic Archive

The odds are pretty good that at some point in your life, you had access to a sprawling pile of National Geographic magazines. Maybe they were stacked in boxes in a little-used closet, or perhaps they were carefully organized on shelves by a meticulous relative, but whatever the case, they were just too valuable to give away or toss in the recycling bin.

Over time, however, a series of moves, the repurposing of that little-used closet, or simply an impulsive bout of spring cleaning may have resulted in that beloved collection of images and articles parting your company.

If you find yourself in this predicament, yet still long to engage with the moving photography and tales of adventure in far-off places that National Geographic provides, The Public Library of Brookline has some exciting news for you.

The Library now offers online access (including at-home access for Brookline residents) to more than 100 years of the magazine's archive. Every article and every photograph from that period is searchable, viewable and printable.

The archive offers an ideal opportunity to revisit the images and stories that helped to shape our perception of the peoples and places of the world.

Start exploring the archive today, and while you're at it, take a look at the other resources the library provides for your continuing education and entertainment.
