What's the Best Place to Celebrate St. Patrick's Day in Brookline?

Vote in our poll, defend your choice in the comments section and on the bars' Places pages. The contest ends at 9 a.m. Friday.

[Edit: Per a request from The Publick House, and to avoid confusion as they do not actually celebrate the St. Patrick's Day, we have taken their name out of the poll. 10:23 a.m. Mar. 13]

In recent weeks, we've been asking Brookline residents to tell us what the best businesses in the neighborhood are.

Last week, our Readers' Choice poll focused on day care/pre-schools, with the Trust Center for Early Education taking home the prize. The week before that, Paris Creperie took home the title of "Best Smoothie."

In honor of St. Patrick's day this weekend, the category is this week: Best Place to Celebrate St. Patrick's Day.

Here's how it works. Vote in the poll below. Add comments supporting your decision and influencing other residents to see that you're right, after all.

As in past weeks, the poll closes at 9 a.m. on Friday. Because these polls aren't scientific, it isn't the sole consideration in choosing a winner. The winner will be determined by the Patch editor (that's me, Grahame Turner), based on poll results, comments on this story and reviews on Patch Places. Please vote only once per survey.

And now, the nominees, along with links to their Patch Places pages:

Don't go to The Publick House to celebrate St. Patrick's Day like they do in Southie. Owner David Ciccolo is not shy about telling patrons that The Publick House is not an Irish pub. It's identified on Facebook as a "Belgian leaning craft beer bar & resto." Drunken St. Patrick's Day shenanigans are not welcome in his establishment. From The Publick House website: "Please pay close attention to what & how much you are drinking. ABVs for all draught and bottled beers are clearly marked. This does not mean you may act a fool and dive head first like a buffoon into our strongest selections. Those of you who do this stick out like a sore thumb anyway and will be asked to vacate the premises. Permanently." However, they do keep O'Hara's Irish Stout on tap for those of you who want a taste of the holiday on March 17.

That's a good point, and part of the reason they have asked to be taken out. I might joke that, for some, that's a great reason to go to the Publick House for St. Patrick's Day: they won't be celebrating it.
