If you could ask the Fourth Congressional District candidates one question, what would it be?
Democrat Joe Kennedy III and Republican Sean Bielat will join Patch this week for two separate live text chats with readers.
Bielat will be taking questions in a live chat on Thursday, Oct. 11 at noon and Kennedy will be chatting with voters on Friday, Oct. 12 at 1 p.m.
Now is your chance to ask these potential congressmen what they think about health care reform, job creation, military spending and more.
The live chats will run for 45 minutes to an hour. To submit a question, come back to Newton Patch on Oct. 11 at noon and Oct. 12 at 1 p.m., click on the live chat, enter your name and you will be able to ask your questions immediately.

I have heard Kennedy say countless times that he is running for Congress because the people of the MA-04 deserve a "fair shot." I have three questions.
Does he believe they didn't get a fair shot with Barney Frank as their Representative?
Don't the people of the district he moved out of to run deserve a fair shot?
Can Joe Kennedy please define what he means by "fair shot?"

Joe Kennedy III says that he is qualified to serve in Congress because he has "listened" to the people of the Fourth District.
Does he really think that we are $16 trillion in debt, with no budget in over three years, mired in overseas conflicts, and with structural deficits of tens of trillions of dollars, merely because no politician has yet to dream up the idea of "listening" to his constituents?
Does "listening" to one's constituents and conducting a few misdemeanor assault trials qualify one to understand foreign policy, the military, the budget, and how to make spending sustainable over the long term?
Does Joe Kennedy III have a solid grasp of accounting, economics, and business principles? Does he understand the trade-offs of policies, such as the employer mandate, and how it affects the ability of businesses to hire?

Question for both candidates: Congress has an all time-low approval rating and one of the reasons is that both sides prefer brinkmanship to working cooperatively on important issues such as job creation, budget balancing and tax reform.
What steps would you take to reach out to colleagues from the other party? What legislators from the opposite party do you most admire? And what policies and proposals from the opposite side make sense to you?
