Week in review featuring a demolition in Chestnut Hill and a new MBTA plan.
- The big question we had Monday was "Which is the Best Place to Candy Store in Brookline?" Nominate the Best Sweet Shops in Town!The Globe reported that the Foxborough and the Krafts are in a battle over billboards. Last weekend, the Chamber of Commerce pulled a "Cash Mobbers," aiming to boost local businesses. In Brookline Police Log, an alleged reckless driver and a woman reportedly shoved an officer.
- Tuesday, we began with a question about whether the Heath School Parents should be allowed to raise money for a bigger auditorium. That morning, State and Brookline Police brought a Natick vehicle chase to an end on Route 9. 'Superheroes' were set to face off against the MBTA Finance Committee. The Brookline Police invite locals to Walk and Talk with officers. Last Friday, Gary's Liquors had a deposit bag of $1420 stolen. Man arrested for attempted breaking-and-entering in the Brookline Arrest Log.
- The MBTA's new plan, announced Wednesday, involved a 23 percent fare hike and some service cuts. The 'Superheroes' from yesterday, or MBTA Activists closed down that meeting. In Brookline's Top Ten Movies, the Descendents hit the top again. In Chestnut Hill we got video of the demolition of the Macy's to make way for the Chestnut Hill Shopping Center. Brookline Police Log had an unusual amount of weekend graffiti reports.
- Thursday, we polled you about the 23 percent increase for the MBTA and targeted cuts outside of Brookline. We invited you to Get Out and celebrate the dirt while helping others in the process. Our restaurant reviewer stopped by Paris Creperie to watch the Art of the Crepe unfold. Spring cleaning at Patch means a new homepage.
- A battle raged Friday, between the Brookline Parents and Snakes in a Crib. We also learned that a Brookline Restaurant owes back wages to underpaid employees. The Winner of Best Candy Shop in Brookline goes to Brookline Village's Serenade Chocolatier.
