Well, it's Friday, and you know what that means. It's time for the Sports Buzz, the fastest three minutes in Brookline sports.

This week, we start by saluting more Brookline High Bay State Conference All-Stars, including  girls cross country All-State qualifier Charlotte Cole. Cole, a freshman, qualified as an individual for the All-State meet with a 14th-place finish overall in the Division 1 EMass Championships at Franklin Park. She also made honorable mention on the BSC team. Senior Leah Gellineau, meanwhile, was named a BSC first team All-Star. 

In girls socccer, senior forward Mary Elcock made the BSC first team, while fellow senior and midfielder Katy Hardt was named honorable mention.

In boys soccer, senior captains Keith Chernin, Jacob Ebbs, and Cole McCracken all garnered first team honors for their play at midfield, forward and defense, respectively, while senior midfielder Teddy Rounds made honorable mention.

The quartet played a huge role in Brookline's stunning state tourney run that ended with a gut-wrenching 2-1 (penalty kick) loss to archrival Newton North in the Division 1 North finals. The teams sweated out two overtimes and a penalty kick round before it was decided.

Well, in the pool, they were thriving in diving at the Division 1 South girls swim sectionals. Brookline senior Julie Coleman and junior Jessie Kaklins finished fourth and fifth, respectively, in the one-meter diving event. Coleman held fourth place through all three rounds, while Kaklins took sixth place in the preliminaries, dropped to seventh after the semis, and rallied to slot fifth overall.

Meanwhile,  the 200-yard freestyle relay team of Anna Parkhurst, Nan Wang, Yang Zhang and Sarah Kahl finished 10th among the 20 teams with a time of 1:49.73.

Overall, among all the events combined, Bishop Feehan won the meet with 263 points. Framingham and Bishop Stang finished second and third, respectively, with scores of 182 and 129.  Rounding out the teams were  Needham (113), Notre Dame Academy (111), Seekonk (77.5), Walpole (77),  Sandwich (69), Ursuline Academy (68), Natick (63), Westwood (62), Wellesley (60.5), Norwood (28), Brookline (27),  Newton North (23), Mount Alvernia (22), Braintree ( 8), Marshfield (6), Brockton (4), and  New Bedford (2).

And how about boys cross country? The Warriors placed second only to Lowell, earning a team spot in tomorrow's All-State championship meet in Gardner. Junior Chernet Sisay and senior Romey Sklar led the way for the Warriors, finishing sixth and 13th, respectively, overall.

Congrats to sophomore Joe Connelly, of Brookline, who helped Beaver Country Day School capture the New England Prep School Track Association (NEPSTA) Division 5 cross country championship in Carlisle. Connelly led the squad with a time of 17:38 on the 3.1 mile course.

Four other Beaver runners finished in the top 10. Freshman George Wright (17:38), seniors Harry Bachrach (18:34) and Taylor Pierce (18:35), and junior Tim King (18:36) placed fourth, seventh, eighth and ninth, respectively. 

And, finally, a high-five to both the Runkle and Devotion schools, who duked it out in the local middle school volleyball finals. Runkle won 2-0 in games in the best 2-of-3, avenging last week's regular season loss to Devotion, which handed Runkle its first loss of the campaign.
