UPDATED: Rte. 9 Shut Down After Accident Near Parker Street

Multiple injuries have been reported.

Newton Police report that Route 9 westbound has been reopened.

12:47 p.m.

State Police are reporting that Route 9 westbound is still shut down at Parker Street and traffic is being diverted. More updates will be posted as they become available. 

Posted earlier:

Police have shut down part of Route 9 westbound this morning after a car accident near the Parker Street bridge.

According to State Police, two cars are involved with the accident and serious injuries have been reported. Police could not confirm the number of patients. 

Scanner reports indicated that the Jaws of Life was requested to the scene.

The call came in for the accident around 11:15 a.m., according to scanner reports.

State Police are on scene along with Newton Police and Fire.
