Fatal Crash on Harvard Street Early Saturday Morning [Update]
Crash outside of 110 Harvard Street sent two to hospital, one died several hours after the crash.
[Update: Brookline Police just released the name of the man killed in the crash: 26-year-old Joshua Wright of Mattapan. No charges have yet been filed, because police are still investigating the incident. 6:43 p.m.]
At about 3:45 a.m. Saturday morning, Police responded to a crash outside of 110 Harvard Street, which later turned fatal. Two men involved were taken to Beth Israel hospital, one of whom was reportedly unconscious at the scene.
According to the Brookline Police Blog, the gray sedan hit a tree near the Harvard Street/Harvard Avenue intersection. Fallon EMTs took them from the scene, but the passenger, a 26-year-old Mattapan man died at about 6 a.m., in the hospital. The driver, a 22-year-old man, survived with non-life threatening injuries.
By Sunday a memorial had appeared at the tree outside of Kaplansky Insurance (who are unrelated to the incident) and mourners had gathered outside. Dr. Lisa Geiger, a chiropractor whose practice is nearby, told Patch that about 20 people had gathered at the tree, and had left flowers, candles and teddy bears.
Police say investigation into the crash is ongoing.
