Have you tried one of the new IPS Smartmeters installed last week by the Department of Public Works? So, let us know what you think about them.

These new meters in Coolidge Corner, JFK Crossing and Washington Square, mostly curbside on Beacon and Harvard Streets. Smartmeters look similar to the traditional single-head meters, but are solar-powered and accept credit or debit cards (with a Visa or MasterCard logo), PXT cards and coins--no bills.

These meters are replacing the upgraded, but still unpopular multi-space meters in those locations. The town plans to sell off the multi-space machines to recoup some of the costs of installing new meters, if the trial is a success.

If you have feedback on the meters, you can email SmartMeters@BrooklineMA.gov, or leave your thoughts in the comments.

too high for short people and have to really tip toe to read the meters, it high enough for tall drivers... the print are big enough and also what about folks who are with disabilities

Tried them, annoyed they don't take American express, also what is with not being able to pay for only 15 minutes. Not happy that I had to waste a dollar for needing only 15 minutes to do my errand. I agree with the reader above that they are taller and more difficult for shorter persons.

I agree that they should have an option for 15 minutes. They should also for more than 2 hour parking, especially right by the theater. A friend and I went to a movie at the Coolidge and we both had to run out as soon as the credits started because our meters had run out.
