Police: Cabbie Threw Bottle After Dispute Over Stolen Fare
Bay State Taxi driver injured in assault.
A Bay State Taxi driver was arrested last weekend after he allegedly threw a glass bottle at a fellow cabbie he accused of stealing his fare.
Police say Andrew Elamin, 44, pulled up alongside another Bay State Taxi driver on Freeman Street shortly after midnight on Jan. 29 and began accusing the driver of “stealing his fare.” After exchanging words, Elamin allegedly threw a glass bottle of ice tea through the passenger side window of the other cab, striking the other driver above his left eye.
The partially full bottle spilled ice tea through out the cab, and the driver was left with slight bruising above his eye, according to a police report.
Elamin was arrested and charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon. Police requested a copy of a security video from the Dexter Park apartments at 175 Freeman Street.
