Bicyclists brave the rain to take part in this year's bike parade

Despite the questionable weather, the Brookline Bikes Beacon parade took place this Sunday afternoon for the fourth year in a row.

Brookline Bikes committee member John Dempsey says he was glad the rain held off until the parade was almost over. He estimates there were 174 bikers in the main parade and 50 in the children's parade.

The parade route is five miles long and begins at Amory Park, heads down Beacon Street, makes a u-turn at Cleveland Cirlcle and then another u-turn at St. Mary's Street before returning back to the park. A separate children's parade which was 1.5  miles long made a loop around the park.
