Chestnut Hill's New Cinema Complex Will Include a Davio's Restaurant

The 250-seat restaurant will be part of the new National Amusements theatre at the Chestnut Hill Shopping Center.

A well-known, upscale Italian steakhouse is planning to partner with a new movie theatre at the Chestnut Hill Shopping Center to bring local diners a different kind of date night experience.

The owners of Davio's Northern Italian Steakhouse are partnering with National Amusements to open a 250-seat restaurant in the new cinema complex at the Chestnut Hill Shopping Center, according to a report in the Boston Herald

The new restaurant, which will be known as Davio's Cucina, will include a lower-priced menu of pastas and pizzas as well as a full bar, the Herald reported. It plans to be open for lunch and dinner and will have its own street entrance in addition to an entrance from the theatre lobby.

Davio's currently has locations in Boston's Park Square, Foxborough, Philadelphia and Atlanta.

Davio's CEO Steve DiFillippo told the Herald that if the Cucina does well at the Chestnut Hill Cinema de Lux, it could be opened at similar National Amusements theatres.

As for the new Cinema de Lux, which is set to open sometime next spring, National Amusements president Shari Redstone told the Herald she wants the 600-seat theatre to be "the best in the world", with plush, luxury seating and a concierge. Patrons will also be able to order food from the theatre or Davio's straight from their seats using iPads or tablets, Redstone said.

The Cinema de Lux complex is just part of a major renovation and rebuilding project at the Chestnut Hill Shopping Center that includes a slew of new retail stores, a Pinkberry, Shake Shack as well as the luxury fitness center, Sports Club/LA.

Meanwhile, developers across Route 9 at the Chestnut Hill Square site continue to build a new shopping complex that will include a Wegman's supermarket, Equinox fitness club as well as two new restaurants that were announced last week by owners New England Development.
