Newton Sen. Cindy Creem Endorses Khazei for U.S. Senate
“I’m supporting Alan because he knows how to bring people from different backgrounds together to get things done,” Sen. Creem said in a press release today.
Alan Khazei's campaign announced Tuesday afternoon that State Senator Cindy Creem (D-Newton) has endorsed Khazei's run for U.S. Senate.
Creem is scheduled to campaign for Khazei at a house party tomorrow night at the home of Newton Ward 8 School Committee member Margie Ross-Decter, according to Khazei's campaign.
"I believe Alan’s the best person to represent us in Washington because his life has been about going around barriers to find new and innovative ways to improve the lives of ordinary Americans," Creem said in a press release issued today by Khazei's campaign. "Whether it was the time he co-founded City Year to create 15,000 jobs for young people or the time he led a coalition of citizen groups to get a bi-partisan group of Senators to restore funding for AmeriCorps, Alan’s life is grounded on getting results."
Creem, a Newton resident, represents the First Middlesex and Norfolk District, which includes Newton, Brookline and parts of Wellesley.
"I’m honored to have Sen. Creem’s support and value her leadership in the State Senate on behalf of our Commonwealth. Cindy is an outstanding public servant, great friend, and role model. There’s a lot of partisan bickering going on in Washington and what we need are leaders to step forward and build consensus to get results," Khazei said in the press release.
