Mitt Romney Taps Brookline Resident to Lead VP Search

Mitt Romney's campaign reportedly is seeking help from Beth Myers, a Brookline resident and long-time supporter of the presidential candidate.

Mitt Romney's campaign has tapped a Brookline resident, Beth Myers, to oversee the search for a vice president that will fit his ticket

“I have selected someone who has been a counselor of mine for a number of years, Beth Myers. She was my chief of staff when I was governor,” Romney told ABC News’ Diane Sawyer in an interview which ran last night.

Myers also tweeted about the decision on her newly-created account @BethMyers2012

The Globe observed out that Myers' decision will be one of the most-scrutinized of the campaign, in a piece this morning, and that Romney is keeping with a core of advisers that have been with him for over a decade.

Myers worked as Romney's chief of staff while he was governor of Massachusetts, and managed his 2008 presidential campaign. The Globe also notes that The Shawmut Group, which she set up, consulted with the Scott Brown campaign, helping lead to his election in 2010.

Some potential running mates' names floated in a USA Today article yesterday, include Florida Ohio Senator Rob Portman, Senator Marco Rubio, Reresentative Paul Ryan of Wisconsin and Governors Chris Christie of New Jersey and Nikki Haley of South Carolina.

However, Romney said in the interview that it is "way too early" to start talking about names.
