Good Samaritans Perform CPR at Commonwealth Ave Panera
Citizens at the Panera Bread location performed CPR and used an automatic defibrillator on a customer having a heart attack.
A Panera Bread customer started showing signs of cardiac arrest at around 7 p.m. tonight, when a good samaritan stepped in and went to work.
According to scanner reports recently received, a citizen took the restaurant's automated external defibrillator device and performed CPR on the poor soul. The fire department and two EMs units arrived on the scene shortly afterward to take over the patient's care.

The intent was solely to make the story a little more interesting to read than simply using various synonyms for "customer" over and over, while sticking to details I could verify at the time. If anything, the aim was a "poetic" epithet--if you have interpreted that differently, I am afraid that is up to you.

I have to agree with Ms. Nolan on this one. I was taken aback by the reference to the 'poor soul' and thought it was an unnecessary and unfortunate embellishment. Being nice and providing a critique are not mutually exclusive; I did not think the comment was overly harsh. Lest I also be so accused, let me wish Mr. Turner a nice long weekend!

Thank you. The way the original comment was phrased, I interpreted it as mockery and not as a critique (there is a huge difference between those two, although they aren't necessarily mutually exclusive either). Again, that was not the intention, but I will accept that may be a poor choice of words. It was my mistake, and it is a phrase I will avoid in future.
