"Evening at Pops" 26th Annual Event Featuring the Music of George Gershwin

When/Where: 8 p.m. tomorrow night, Symphony Hall (301 Massachusetts Ave, Boston)
Why: Keith Lockhart and the Pops plan to celebrate mother's day with George Gershwin and play his signature vibrant, jazzy and uniquely American pieces, including Rhapsody in Blue. Support the Joslin Diabetes Center, and give mom an unforgettable evening at the Pops. 
Pricing$100 for balcony, 250 for VIP and floor seats. 

west elm Pop-Up Flower Shop

When/Where: Saturday, at West Elm Fenway, 160 Brookline Ave. 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Why
: Some say Mother's Day is incomplete without flowers. Stop in at local boutique design studio Petal Floral Design as they pop up at West Elm. A section of the store will be transformed, almost overnight, into a Bohemian garden--and you can take some of it home.

Free to get in, arrangements vary. 

PROGRESSIONS

When/WhereBrookline High School, 7:30 p.m. Saturday

Why: Brookline High's dance concert returns with 130 students performing pieces choreographed by BHS faculty members Lynn Modell, Christien Polos and Kathleen Exar. Bring mom, and give her a locally-made, unforgettable musical experience with pieces from Zoe Keating and Loreena McKennitt to Florence and the Machine. 
Pricing: $5. There is also a canned food drive outside the auditorium.

Mother’s Day Nature Walk & Breakfast at Mass Audubon’s

When/Where: Mass Audubon Society: 293 Moose Hill St, Sharon. Sunday at 7 a.m.
Why: Get mom out of bed early for this one: an hour-long guided nature walk featuring many of the signs of spring, followed by a hearty pancake breakfast. Kids get to enjoy a take-home craft bag provided by the station. 
Pricing$8, pre-registration required. 

Diane Dexter performs one-woman show at EPOCH

When/Where: Sunday, 2:30 p.m. EPOCH Senior Healthcare of Chestnut Hill,
Why: A one-woman show with Diane Dexter brings music from all over the country with a contemporary flair. Her repertoire includes such beloved favorites as “As Time Goes By,” “For All We Know,” and “You Belong to Me,” as well as an assortment of hits from Broadway shows, movies, traditional folk and light jazz and swing. They request a reservation, as space is limited. For more information, call 617-243-9990.
