The Irish Cultural Centre's 2011 Irish Festival
When/Where: Friday 6-10 p.m., Saturday 11 a.m.-10 p.m., Sunday noon-9 p.m. At the Irish Cultural Centre 200 New Boston Dr, Canton
Why: Get a taste of Ireland in New England with shopping, food, dancing, sports, and music. A host of musical guests, including McPeake, Enter the Haggis, Joshua Tree, Mackem & Spain Bros, The Prodigals, The Screaming Orphans, Derek Warfield and the Young Wolftones, among others.
Pricing: General Admission: $15 per day/$35 for weekend pass (Fri-Sun). Kids under 12 free.
3rd Annual 3 on 3 Street Soccer Tournament
When/Where: Saturday, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Sunday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Skyline Park
Why: The friends of Brookline Soccer host a street soccer tournament for teams of three to practice what they say is the number one way to develop soccer skills. Players get commemorative shirts, and the winners will get a championship shirt.

"Pirates & Tales of the Sea" by Romper Rhythm & Puppets
When/Where: Saturday, Puppet Showplace Theatre, 10:30 a.m. and 1 p.m.
Why: Join Cap'n Long John Silver and his parrot Flint as they tell a handful of stories of the sea. Silly, not scary versions of "A Little Mermaid," "How the Whale Got His Throat" and a story from NH, “Ocean Born Mary.” The stories are crafted and told with both hand puppets and shadow puppets.
Pricing: $10 general admission, $8 for members.
Green Briar: Simple Charms OPening Reception
When/Where: Saturday, 6:30 p.m. to 8;30 p.m. at Brookline Arts Center
Why: Photographer Sue Christensen of Jamaica Plain will show off her latest collection of color photographs, entitled Green Briar: Simple Charms. She uses 35mm film, and 4X5 large format cameras. The exhibit runs at the Arts Center until July 29, with the opening reception this weekend.
Pricing: Free, open to all
Brookline's Flag Day
When/Where: Sunday, June 19. 7 a.m. to Noon at Cypress Field
Why: Coffee and refreshments will be served at 7 p.m. in the cafeteria. Beginning at 9 p.m., the Flag Day 5K Road Race, sets off from Brookline High School. The course heads down Cypress Street, then takes Harvard street to the Allston line. The flag goes up at 9:15 a.m., and a kids parade sets off around 10:30 a.m.
Pricing: Free and open to all.
Don't forget that Sunday is Father's day.
