Why: It's opening night at the Royal Opera House, and it's right in your backyard. Mozart's score, combined with Jonathan Miller's take on a hilarious and emotional tale of deception and girlfriend-swapping.

Free Pumpkins for Kids at Belkin Family Lookout Farm
When/where: 10 a.m., at 89 Pleasant St. South in Natick
Why: Spend a weekend meeting some animals at the farm, or climbing a hay pyramid, crawling through a burlap maze or taking a hayride. You could even bring your kids: Paid admission gets kids a free pumpkin this weekend.
Pricing: $14.00 for adults, $12.00 for children under 12, and kids under 2 are free.
Haunted Hayride
When/where: Robert T. Lynch Municipal Golf Course, from 6 to 8 p.m.
Why: The Lynch Golf Course is transformed into a spooky graveyard, inhabited by ghosts, goblins and other villains, and you'll be brought face-to-face with each of them on the haunted hayride running this weekend. Afterwards, to help you calm down, they'll have face painting and balloon art.
Pricing: $10 ($14 for non-Brookline residents)
2nd Annual Coolidge Corner Pie Contest
When/where: MJ Ready International Bistro, at 6 p.m. Saturday
Why: Pie! Enough said.
Not enough said? Okay. Come and enjoy a selection of fruit pies baked by folks in and around Brookline. Vote for your favorites in both individual and restaurant categories, and stick around to see who wins at 9 p.m.
Pricing: $5 suggested donation
Holiday Pet Photos taken by John Bellavance
When/where: Cause to Paws, noon on Sunday.
Why: Bring in your furry family members for a 20-minute photo shoot with a pro. When they're ready, photos will be available to review on Bellavance's website, from which you can make cards and choose your favorites. Call ahead to reserve a time slot: 617-738-7297.
