Get Out: Baseball, Bike Parade and Park Poetry

Get out to celebrate Brookline parks in literature or by bike, or spend a day playing ball for charity.

Little Red Riding Hood by WonderSpark Puppets

When/Where: Showings on Saturday and Sunday, at 1 and 3 p.m., at Puppet Showplace Theatre.
Why: Will Little Red be able to outsmart the Big Bad Wolf, deliver goodies to, and save, her grandmother? You will have to stop by the Theatre and find out when WonderSpark Puppets brings the show to life. 
Pricing: $10 for tickets

3rd Annual FIELD OF DREAMS WiffleBall TOURNAMENT

When/Where: Starts at 8 a.m., Boston Athlectic Club (653 Summer St)
Why: If you build it, they will probably come. The Boston Athletic Club and Joslin Diabetes center host the games, which will benefir diabetes research. The tournament was created and is organized by Boston Police Superintendent Paul Fitzgerald and his wife Leigh Anne, whose daughter was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at age 8. All proceeds go to finding a cure. 
Pricing: $100.

Fenway Fantasy at "Believe in Brookline Kids"

When/Where: 1 p.m., Saturday at Fenway Park (4 Yawkey Way
Why: Support the Brookline Community Mental Health Center's Kids' Fund, and spend the day at Fenway. With a slew of activities, including batting cages, a tour, photos with Wally and the World Series trophy, and live entertainment. Then, send the kids home, and stick around from 6 to 10 p.m. for an elegant, adult Evening of Thanks
Pricing: $25.00 (while tickets last)

Write Under Willows with Brookline's Poet Laureate

When/WhereGriggs Park, 1:30 p.m. Saturday.
Why: Meet poet Judith Steingbergh and let the willows in Griggs Park be your muse. Spend an hour writing, drawing, and exploring the arts with the first Brookline Poet Laureate
Pricing: Free, bring picnic blankets, pens and papers. 

Brookline Bikes Beacon & Community Celebration of our Parks

When/Where: 11:30 a.m., Sunday, starting at Amory Playground,
Why: The annual parade which celebrates biking and the parks of Brookline kicks off this weekend, and then travels up and down Beacon Street. There may be some delays for those in cars. It's recommended for cyclists 8 and up, anyone who can ride 8 mph on hilly terrain. Although for anyone else, there is a kids' parade planned for roughly the same time. 
Pricing: Free, bring your own bike.
