Annual Against the Tide Toward Breast Cancer Prevention
When/Where: Starts at 7 a.m. Saturday from 3488 Main St in Brewster.
Why: The Massachusetts Breast Cancer Coalition is raising money to remove toxic chemicals from the environment, and they are doing it with a series of activities--swims, runs, kayaking, and more. Come down to cheer them on.
How much: Each swimmer raised at least $175.00
Brew at the Zoo
When/Where: 5 p.m. at Franklin Park Zoo, Saturday
Why: Check out the Zoo, and for the larger animals (i.e., adults 21+) a chance to sample some local beers. Hang out with the lowland gorillas at the Forest Pavillion, enjoy some food, and try beers from Blue Hills Brewery, Long Trail Brewing Co., Samuel Adams, Cambridge Brewing Company, Watch City Brewing Company, and Brooklyn Brewery--just to name a few.
How much: $50, or $60 at the door
Jack and the Beanstalk by Crabgrass Puppet Theatre
When/Where: Puppet Showplace Theatre, Friday and Saturday, 10:30 a.m. and 1 p.m.
Why: A unique take on the old fairy tale, when Jack trades for some magic beans, his family is less than thrilled. But, can he make the deal worth everyone's time? The Theatre promises colorful scenery, exciting puppetry and a delightful musical score.
How much: Tickets are $10
Kids Eat Free at Osaka Restaurant
When/Where: Osaka Japanese Sushi and Steakhouse, All weekend
Why: Sushi, hibachi and Japanese cuisine all this weekend. Try the meals, and expand your kids' horizons.
How much: Free (for kids, see menu for adults). Kids must be accompanied by an adult customer.
Brookline Adult Ed Cabaret Class Registration
When/Where: Brookline High School, all weekend. Course begins on Sept 19.
Why: Register this weekend for a cabaret community theatre course, which will take you through some Broadway scenes and musicals including Hairspray, Rent, Chicago, and Les Miserables to teach you how to move, speak, sing and sing.
