Youth Writing Workshop
When/Where: 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, at City on the Hill Church, 140 Bowdoin St, Boston.
Why: A writing workshop run by local children’s book author, Suzie Canale. Aimed at kids aged 5 to 12, participants will learn creative writing, active thinking and other skills needed to put together a story book of their own. Before, Canale will treat her students to a reading from "The Land of Chocolate Cosmos," one of her award-winning books.

Brookline Literacy Partnership 3rd Annual IntelliJam Concert
When/Where: Brookline High School, 2:30 to 5 p.m. Saturday
Why: The third annual concert to benefit schools in Mather School in Dorchester, features performing artists such as Ten Tumbao and Molly Mehlsack. Tickets are open to the public, and all are encouraged to join the show.

Irish Step Dancers to perform at EPOCH
When/Where: EPOCH Senior Healthcare of Chestnut Hill, 2:30 p.m., Saturday.
Why: In honor of St. Patrick's Day, EPOCH is bringing step dancers to their performance space. These dancers stop by every year to thrill their audience. The show is free, but they ask that you call ahead to reserve a seat. For more information, call 617-243-9990.

Stage Soup Open House
When/Where: 2 p.m. Sunday, at Stage Soup's 17 Station St location

The Peabody Sisters: Brookline and Beyond
When/Where: 2 p.m. Sunday, at 416 Washington Street.
Why: Do you want to know more about the"The Peabody Sisters: Three Women Who Ignited American Romanticism"? Pulitzer Prize finalist and author Megan Marshall will be talking about that very suject in the building that was originally a private museum for Desmond FitzGerald's collection of French and American Impressionists. The program is sponsored by the Brookline Historical Society.
