Meal and Deal: Fall means football, especially here in Jamaica Plain and Brookline. The Patriots are just getting hot and the season should prove to be an exciting one. So don’t just turn to any old game time snack. Head to Trader Joe's, located at 1309 Beacon Street in Brookline for their Guacamole Kit. For only $3.69, you get a fun package of tomatoes, a jalapeno pepper, garlic, a lime and avocados. All you need to do is peel, chop and smush and you have some yummy dip for celebration purposes. Pick up a bag of Soy and Flaxseed Tortilla Chips for only $2.49 to complete this Frugal Fam Meal and Deal!

Johnnie’s Fresh Market – 1028 Beacon Street, Brookline
Meal and Deal: Every Frugal Family needs a hearty autumn dinner that is easy on the wallet. Johnnie’s Fresh Market is helping us with this task! Located at 1028 Beacon Street in Brookline, the store is offering a great deal on boneless chicken breast tenders this week for only $1.98 per pound. When you purchase your chicken, grab about four apples. Thinly cut the apples and toss with a little bit of olive oil, salt and pepper. Roast at 400 degrees for about 30 minutes. Drip some olive oil on the chicken, sprinkle with a smidge of thyme, salt and pepper, then place on the roasted apples and roast for about 30 minutes. Yummers! Cheap and delicious! This meal will fill the bellies of your loved ones without breaking your budget.

Harvest Co-Op – 57 South Street, Jamaica Plain
Meal and Deal: A sweet treat that all Frugal Family members can make and enjoy are caramel apples. Luckily, Harvest Co-Op, located at 57 South Street in Jamaica Plain, has some great deals on apples this week. Grab some Cortland Apples- they’re perfect for baking and are available for only 99 cents per pound! Or buy some Macintosh Apples for only 99 cents a pound and grab a package of caramels. Remove the stems from the apples and insert sticks at the stem end. In a microwave-safe bowl, melt your caramels with about 2 tablespoons of milk, this will take about two minutes. Then dip those apples in the yummy goo! Place them on a non-stick cookie sheet and let them cool.

Meal and Deal: And now we come to the hardest, most complicated Frugal Family Meal and Deal recipe. Even the great Julia Child herself might quake with nervousness at the instructions you are about to read. City Feed and Supply, located at 672 Centre Street in Jamaica Plain has treated us to the perfect way to end a busy fall day. You’ve been out raking leaves or playing touch football all day and you’ve (amazingly!) stuck to your diet.
