Five Things You Need to Know Today: July 12
Five things, a puppy fairy tale, a taste of Shabbat, a Mad Russian, and some true believers.
1. 85ºF highs and 64ºF lows, the National Weather Service predicts. A sunny day followed by a clear night.
2. "Puppylocks and the Three Bears,"--yes, the story of Goldilocks and the Three Bears, but with a Golden Retriever (a golden dog, at least) playing the role of Goldy. Head over to the Puppet Showplace Theatre for their $10 presentation, which runs at 10:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. today through Saturday (July 14).
3. 11 a.m. at Henry Bear's Park, get yourself 'A Taste of Shabbat' at Storytime. Everyone takes home a challah, and there will be stories and sing-alongs.
4. Free Introductory session with a World Renowned Healer, Yefim Shubentsov, aka "The Mad Russian." He plans to teach his methods for the first time in over 30 years at 6:30 p.m. tonight at Shubentsov Yefim's office at 1680a Beacon St.
5. In Kurt Andersen's new novel "True Believers", an attorney passes on the chance to join the Supreme Court, and reveals a secret adventure she and a friend took on in the '60s, a case of James Bond-level intrigue. At 7 p.m., the Brookline Booksmith will have the author and the book.
