C And D Lines Shut Down In Brookline Due To Falling Tree, Disabled Train

MBTA running shuttle buses while crews repair downed power lines.

The MBTA has shut down both the C and D branches of the Green Line after two unrelated incidents involving a downed tree and a disabled train.

As of 10:15 p.m., the T was running shuttle buses between Kenmore and Coolidge Corner stations on the C Line, and Kenmore and Reservoir stations on the D Line, while crews workes to repair damaged power lines and move the stalled train.

Brookline firefighters were called to Longwood Station earlier this evening after the downed tree sparked a small brush fire along the tracks of the D Line. Firefighters were on the scene for about an hour and half along with MBTA personnel, according to Deputy Chief Kevin Francis.

"They have their work cut out for them tonight," Francis said. "The biggest problem is getting that tree removed, and then they're going to have to re-hang all the power lines."

T spokesman Joe Pesaturo said tree-cutting crews were still on the scene as of 9 p.m.. Once the tree is cleared, Pesaturo said power crews would have to make repairs and test the wires.
